Communicating for Results
Regardless of your position, your success and your organization's success is influenced by the quality of your relationship with your co-workers and employees.
What You Will Cover
In this two day workshop you will learn how to influence and improve those relationships, through understanding how your tone of voice, your choice of words, your body language, and the context in which you speak influence the message. You will explore assertiveness, gender issues in communication, and differing communication styles.
Communication barriers- Effective communication is crucial for successful relationships, both in and out of the office. When there is good communication, there is good business and happy employees. When there is bad communication employees and employers get stressed and upset and aren't able to concentrate on their work. One way to make sure your business is operating as smoothly as possible is to recognize communication barriers and then remove them. This course will help you to recognize these barriers in order to remove them.
Listening skills- Good listening skills are just as important as good speaking skills when it comes to communication. When employees feel that they aren't being heard by you they will often feel that you don't respect them. When you don't listen you are likely to miss out on opportunities and important information. Good listening skills are something you learn. The Communication course will help you to be a better listener in all aspects of your life.
Feedback, empathy, tact- Part of being a good communicator is being able to give and accept bad news in a supportive and productive way. When you take time out of your day to give your employees constructive feedback, or express empathy when they are going through a difficult time, they will feel like they are respected. By showing your employees that you care about them you are showing them that they are an important part of the organization. This is a great way to motivate employees. The Communications course will help you acquire the skills you need to give good feedback, empathy, etc. so that you have happy, motivated employees.
Asking powerful questions- One of the most effective tools in communication is the ability to ask questions. Being able to ask effective questions is a skill we must acquire. Skilfull questioning is one of the key ingredients of solid and successful relationships, strategic planning, and significant exchange of information and opinions. The Communications course will teach you how to ask the right questions to get the results you want.
What our body says when we talk- Body language is a form of non-verbal communication. By just our body language alone people can tell how we feel about the information we are giving or receiving. The Communications course will help you to show positive and accepting body language so that people feel that they are being heard and that what they are saying is important to you. When you show relaxed and tentative body language, people are likely to feel more comfortable communicating with you.
How to persuade others, and ask for what we want- The art of persuasion is an important skill to have in the business world. Just like any other part of communication, persuasion is learned. The Communications course will give you tips on how to be more persuasive so that you can increase your sales, land that big business deal, etc.
Civilized disagreements- Everyone has their own beliefs and ideas and, as we all know, there will always be someone who disagrees with them. Because disagreement is a challenge that every organization has, it is important to be able to disagree in a civilized manner. Often times these disagreements are only minor problems and, with good communication skills, easily fixed. The Communications course will give you the tools you need to communicate through disagreements in a civilized manner.
Attitudes that help- A positive attitude in the workplace can help you whether you own your own business, work as an employee, or manage others within a business environment. You'll enjoy your work more and so will those you interact with. Having a good attitude is a great way to motivate yourself and others. The Communications course will help you to be more positive in the workplace.
